 About the photographer: Louis B. Ruediger has worked as a news photographer in Western Pennsylvania since 1985. He is on the staff of the Valley News Dispatch, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Total Trib Media news service. Along with extensive newspaper work, his work has been published in magazines such as Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, and Dog Fancy magazine. He has been honored by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers Association with more than 20 first or second place awards, as well as a dozen more regional awards. He was also awarded the National Media Award through DIRT Motor Sport for his still photography of auto racing. Ruediger's interest in dogs was spawned by his uncle, who raised Cardigan Welsh Corgis. In 1984, his uncle gave him a Blue Mural male, Baldon Baron Blue Marvel. "Baron" earned a companion dog title with two first places and a second place in the novice division. In 2002, Ruediger and his uncle set out to find a Bull Terrier for confirmation show and performance in agility and obedience. Breeder Dr. Fanne Berez sold Ruediger his first Bull Terrier, with a co-ownership between Berez and Rick Harris: “Ace,” a singleton puppy Ch. Action King's Ransom. Ace was sired by National Champion Ch. Action Season Premier ROM and Silverwood winner Ch. Action African Queen ROM. Ruediger and Ace are currently working on titles in agility, Obedience and Rally. Ruediger is a member of the Westmoreland County Obedience Training Club in Delmont, Pa., where he volunteers as an assistant instructor. Ruediger recently worked with dog trainer and author Jane Killion of New Jersey on a book entitled Training the Non Biddible Dog "When Pigs Fly."
